J-PARCの物質・生命科学実験施設(以下、MLF)では、新しい単結晶構造解析装置「SENJU」が、共用促進法に基づき急ピッチで建設されている。SENJUではまず、1MWにおいて「0.5mm角の単結晶」による精密構造解析を実現することを目指す。対象となる単結晶試料はほぼ無尽蔵となり、また低温・高温のみならず磁場や圧力,電場,ガス雰囲気などを比較的容易に組合せた環境下での測定を実現することにより、SENJUで展開されるサイエンスのすそ野は非常に広範囲に拡がることが期待される。SENJUは平成22年度末に建設を完了し、平成23年夏前に初ビーム受け入れを目指す。

A new single crystal diffractometer SENJU is currently under construction in the MLF at J-PARC. SENJU is designed to collect diffraction data by use of a laboratory XRD specimen size, and aimed for a precise structure analysis under combined environmental conditions. Very wide variety of experiments will be performed, such as low-temperature, under magnetic field, high pressure, and so on. The construction of SENJU will be completed in March 2011, and the instrument will be received the first neutron before summer maintenance period of 2011.
