Present staatus of edge Thomson scattering system in ITER

Two topics from recent progress for the edge Thomson scattering system in ITER is presented: (1) Conceptual design of laser beam injection and collection optics, (2) Trial production of a high power YAG laser system. For the first topic, optical design of laser injection and collection optics has been carried out. One solution of optical configuration for laser injection and collection optics has been found, satisfying measurement requirements (spatial resolution $$<$$ 5 mm at ${it r/a}$ $$>$$ 0.85 with accuracy 10% for ${it T$_{e}$}$ and 5% for ${it n$_{e}$}$ at $$>$$ 3$$times$$10$$^{19}$$ m$$^{-3}$$). Regarding the second topic, the prototype YAG laser has been assembled and 2 J/100 Hz has been achieved as a first step.
