Research activities of QuBs, JAEA

Namba, Hideki

Quantum Beam Science Directorate (QuBS) was founded in October 2005 at the establishment of Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) with the integration of Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute (JAERI) and Japan Nuclear Cycle Development Institute (JNC). QuBS's mission is to promote a wide variety of science and technology by multiplex and complementary use of various quantum beams from JAEA-owned large-scale facilities, namely: neutron radiation from JRR-3 reactor and J-PARC spallation neutron source in Tokai, electron beams from electron accelerator facility and ion beams from TIARA ion beam facility in Takasaki, high-strength and high-quality photons from J-KAREN laser facility in Kizu, and synchrotron radiation from SPring-8 beam-line facilities in Harima, forming so-called "quantum beam platform". The research activities of QuBS are briefly introduced in this talk.
