Relationship between cross section of test piece and input energy for failure

Minagawa, Keisuke*; Fujita, Satoshi*; Kitamura, Seiji ; Watakabe, Tomoyoshi

In this paper, influence of cross-section of specimen to energy for failure is investigated by vibration experiments. Authors focused on second moment of area and section modulus as parameter of cross-section. Three types of specimen were prepared for vibration experiment. One is a normal model. The others are a model which has same second moment of area as the normal model and a model which has same section modulus as the normal model. Then, vibration experiments that cause fatigue failure to experimental models were conducted. After that, input energy for failure of each specimen was compared. As a result of the experiment, it was confirmed that input energy for failure was same if section modulus was same.
