M$"{o}$ssbauer study on the hydrides of C15 RFe$$_2$$ (R=Sm,Gd) compounds

We here report the recent M$"o$ssbauer study on the hydrides of C15 RFe$$_2$$ compounds (R=Sm,Gd). We studied the change of the local electronic states induced from the hydrogenation of SmFe$$_2$$, by the M$"o$ssbauer spectroscopy with $$^{57}$$Fe and nuclear resonant forward scattering (NFS) of synchrotron radiation (SR) by $$^{149}$$Sm. The latter was performed at BL11XU of SPring-8. The results can be interpreted by the effect of hydrogenation, i.e. the lattice expansion, the electron-rearrangement, and the resultant weakening of the interaction between Sm and Fe. Also, we introduce a hydrogen-atmospheric furnace for the SR M$"o$ssbauer measurement installed in BL11XU; It is developed for the "in-situ" M$"o$ssbauer study on hydrogenation and dehydrogenation process. A feasibility study on the in-situ $$^{57}$$Fe-M$"o$ssbauer study in dehydrogenation process of c-GdFe$$_2$$H$$_x$$ is reported.
