第8回ITER理事会が2011年6月14日と15日に青森において開催され、承認された予算内でITER計画のスケジュールを維持すること、核融合エネルギーの重要性及び必要性の再確認、ITER建設期におけるさらなるコスト抑制/削減などが議論された。

On 14 and 15 June 2011, the 8th ITER council convened in Aomori. Maintaining the ITER project's schedule within approved funding, reaffirmation the importance and the necessity of fusion energy and further significant savings/reductions for the ITER construction phase were discussed.
