Instrumental characteristics comparison of neutron engineering diffractometers, TAKUMI and RESA

Akita, Koichi; Moriai, Atsushi; Suzuki, Hiroshi  ; Aizawa, Kazuya  ; Harjo, S.   ; Ito, Takayoshi*

The TAKUMI in J-PARC/MLF measures multiple diffraction peaks simultaneously by the time-of-flight method while the RESA-1/RESA-2 in JRR-3 measures single diffraction peak by the angular dispersive method. In order to use the both engineering neutron diffractometers effectively and to approach higher measurement reliability, the instrument characteristics and the data characteristics should be examined quantitatively, and the measurement methods and the data analysis methods should be optimized and standardized. In this report, the results of tensile test of a structural steel SCM440 using the diffractometers, TAKUMI and RESA-1 were described.
