Accurate neutron-nucleus reaction measurement instrument in J-PARC

The Accurate Neutron-Nucleus Reaction measurement Instrument (ANNRI) has been installed at the beam line no. 4 of the Material and Life science experimental Facility (MLF) in the J-PARC. It was constructed in order to supply accurate neutron capture cross sections of minor actinides and fission products required for developing innovative nuclear systems. The ANNRI includes the advanced Ge and NaI spectrometers for detecting prompt rays, whose energy resolutions are much higher than those of the spectrometers used currently in the world. The performances of the ANNRI are reviewed, and the perspectives of the research fields explored by the ANNRI are discussed.
