研究用原子炉をテーマに標記IAEA主催の国際会議がモロッコ王国の首都ラバトで開催された。原子力機構からの講演は招待講演として扱われ、(1)震災の影響、(2)最近の成果、(3)定常炉とパルスの相補利用と研究炉の必要性、について報告した。(2)についてはJRR-3における大学や機構、そして産業利用の他、KUR(イトカワ分析)やJ-PARC(電池材料粉末回折)についても触れ、(3)は日本中性子科学会の次世代研究炉検討特別委員会の中間報告の一部を紹介した。講演はサマリートークで引用され、「J-PARCとともにJRR-3の利用が継続され、HANARO, OPAL FRM-IIなど新型炉の建設も行われており、将来も研究炉の重要性が明らかである。」「JRR-3には地震による大きな被害はなく利用者は早期の再稼動を心待ちにしている。」と総括された。

The International Conference on Research Reactors: Safe Management and Effective Utilization was Held in Rabat, the capital of the Kingdom of Morocco organized by IAEA hosted by the Kingdom of Morocco. Japan Atomic Energy Agency presented an invited talk about the (1) impact of the earthquake, (2) recent results, and (3) complementary research reactors and pulse neutron source. The talk was quoted in the summary talk which summarized as, "JRR-3 remains useful after J-PARC has been started. This and the construction of new research reactors, HANARO, OPAL FRM-II demonstrate an important role of the research reactors in the field of neutron science.", "JRR-3 has no serious damage from the earthquake, and the users look forward to an early re-operation."
