Evaluation of Heusler alloys using spin-polarized positron annihilation spectroscopy

Using spin-polarized positron annihilation spectroscopy, we are studying the spin-polarized state associated with the Heusler alloys. We measured the energy spectrum of annihilation $$gamma$$ rays by placing the samples and a positron source emitting longitudinaly polarized positrons in magnetic field and extracted the components related to the magnetism. The results imply that (1) the majority spin bands of the CMA sample have a d-like character, (2) those of the CMS sample have more sp-like character and (3) those of the NMS sample have the further sp-like character.
