今回のBA便りでは、第9回のIFERC事業委員会の開催、Bullの計算機の搬入開始及び衆議院文部科学委員会の視察について報告した。第9回のIFERC事業委員会は2011年9月2728日に六ヶ所で開催され、IFERC事業チームが作成した事業計画改訂案や2012年の作業計画を審議し、それらを運営委員会に承認を求めるため提出するよう勧告した。今回は、核融合プラントの安全性研究や原型炉R&Dのレビューの提案の後、それらを含む、2012年の作業計画案と事業計画の改定案が提案された。また、原型炉R&D棟と計算機・遠隔実験棟の視察が行われた。計算機・遠隔実験棟の冷水供給設備や電源設備の工事がほぼ終了し、日本SGIの計算機周辺設備の据付調整も順調に進み、計算機の搬入も8月23日から開始された。またCSCの日欧技術会合では、計算機据付け状況、今後の輸送スケジュール、計算機への電気の供給、調整のため設置する高速ネットワークの状況、10月から常駐するサポートチームの状況等について確認、協議がなされた。8月24日に衆議院文部科学委員会の視察(田中真紀子委員長以下19名の国会議員)があり、各研究施設を見学した。

This time, the 9th IFERC Project Committee, initiation of introduction of the computer racks by BULL and visit of members of the Committee on Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of the House of Representatives on 24th of August were reported. In the 9th IFERC Project Committee, held in Rokkasho on 27-28th September, the revised Project Plan and Work Program 2012 made by the IFERC Project Team were reviewed and recommended to submit to the BA Steering Committee. Tour to the DEMO R&D Building and CSC & REC Building was made. The chiller and electric power systems of the CSC & REC Building were almost completed and introduction of the peripheral systems of the HPC was on schedule. The first delivery of the computer racks was held on 23rd August. At the CSC Technical Meeting, confirmation of installation and delivery schedule of the supercomputer, electric supply, introduction of high speed network, establishment of support team from October, etc. were done.
