Modeling and simulation of defects in irradiated materials for fusion application

Watanabe, Yoshiyuki; Morishita, Kazunori*; Hamaguchi, Dai; Tanigawa, Hiroyasu

In order to realize a reliable fusion reactor, it is required to develop a methodology to predict material's response to fusion irradiation by theoretically-appropriate extrapolation of the irradiation data obtained from alternative facilities such as existing material testing reactors and ion accelerators, in which a computational simulation modeling approach from the multiscale viewpoint is important. In this report, it is summarized to mechanistically model microstructural change, formation of defect clusters, in metals and ceramics during irradiation, as part of BA-DEMO R&D activities.
