Takahashi, Fumiaki

Large amount of radioactive material were released and deposited in the environment due to the accident at TEPCO Fukushima Dai-ichi Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), in March, 2011. Japanese government, including local government, has been engaged in environmental remediation at the region affected by the accident. Chernobyl accident in 1986 was estimated at "level 7" in International Nuclear Event Scale (INES) as the accident at Fukushima Dai-ichi NPP. Thus, countermeasures in Japan have referred to the experience in Chernobyl accident. This manuscript reviews the environmental remediation in Europe after Chernobyl accident by referring to a report by IAEA.
