The Development of the readout electronics for multi MPPC with EASIROC

Honda, Ryotaro; Imai, Kenichi

In the J-PARC K1.8 beamline and J-PARC E40 experiment, we will use the fiber tracker consisting of scintillation fibers and multi pixel photon counter (MPPC). Each fiber of this detector is read by one MPPC. The total number of channels will be 5,000. We are developing a new readout electronics with EASIROC developed by Omega/IN2P3 in France for MPPC readout. As the first step of the development, we made an evaluation board with EASIROC and SiTCP. EASIROC and ADCs on the board are controlled by the FPGA. The FPGA communicates with DAQ system via netword by using SiTCP. All essential functions such as gain adjustment of MPPPC, A/D conversion and data transmit to DAQ system are included in this board. We did performance evaluation with this board. Signal to noise ratio for analogue input is 6$$sigma$$. Inclusive timing jitter is 150 ps ($$sigma$$). Data transmit speed is 14 kHz. These performance are sufficient for our experiment.
