Fluid-structure interaction analysis based on Immersed Boundary for a nuclear power plant

Kino, Chiaki; Watanabe, Tadashi*; Nishida, Akemi  ; Takemiya, Hiroshi

Flow phenomena in a nuclear power plant (NPP) under an earthquake have an important role on behaviors of the NPP. We are developing three-dimensional virtual plant vibration simulator equipped with fluid-structure interaction analysis capability using Immersed Boundary Method. In the present study, we have adopted the method to flow analysis around a circular cylinder in order to verify the present method. Additionally, we propose the design to couple flow analysis to structural analysis using FEM on the three-dimensional virtual plant vibration simulator.
