When the JRR-3 was refurbished during the years from 1985 to 1990, three thermal neutron triple-axis instruments in the reactor hall, TAS-1, PONTA and TOPAN constructed by JAERI, ISSP and Tohoku University, respectively, each had foreseen to have a polarized neutron option and hence had a choice of the polarizing monochromator and the guide field installed in the biological shielding from the very beginning. This foresight together with the increased neutron flux of the refurbished JRR-3 and the collaboration with Institut Laue Langevin in growing and preparing high-efficiency Heusler monochromator crystals made it possible that the polarized neutron inelastic scattering investigations have been becoming more and more common place in Japan. In this presentation the development and the present status of polarized neutron inelastic scattering investigations on triple-axis spectrometers at JRR-3 Neutron Science Facility will be reported.
