圧力下における水素秩序氷の性質

J-PARC及びオークリッジ国立研究所のHFIRにて、圧力下における氷の中性子回折を測定した。水素の秩序化した強誘電性氷がアモルファス氷から生成することを新たに見いだした。この結果は、宇宙の氷天体の内部に強誘電性氷が存在することを示唆している。これらの氷の赤外吸収のスペクトルを測定しており、そのスペクトルも通常の氷と大きな違いがあることを明らかにした。

I report recent neutron diffraction studies of ferroelectric ices and hydrates under high pressure, which carried out at neutron facilities (J-PARC at Tokai, HFIR and SNS at Oak Ridge). Time-resolved diffraction experiments at Oak Ridge show that ferroelectric ice and hydrates with hydrogen-ordered arrangement nucleates and grows with time. High-resolution powder diffraction studies at J-PARC show the existence of the ferroelectric ice under high-pressure and its formation from compressed amorphous ice. The results suggest that a cool icy body in space has a thick layer of ferroelectric ice. Furthermore, I report spectral and vibrational properties of ferroelectric ices investigated by inelastic neutron scattering and infrared absorption measurements.
