Investigation on multi-element analysis based on the HKED technique by using Monte Carlo simulation code

Shizuma, Toshiyuki; Hajima, Ryoichi; Hayakawa, Takehito; Angell, C.; Seya, Michio

We have proposed an advanced hybrid K-edge/XRF densitometory (advanced HKED) using an intense mono-energetic X-ray beam from laser Compton scattering (LCS). According to our previous simulation studies with the EGS5 Monte Carlo simulation code, it appears that quick analysis of U, Pu, and Np concentrations in resolver solutions with high precision is possible. In this paper, we discuss a method that enables simultaneous analysis of multiple elements based on the advanced HKED technique. We also report on the IAEA Workshop "XRF-Techniques for Quantitative Analysis in the Nuclear Field" held in June 2012.
