JT-60SA; The Device and the physics objectives

JT-60SA is a large tokamak device with all the toroidal and poloidal coils made of super conducting conduits. The JT-60SA project has been pursued under the Broader Approach Satellite Tokamak Programme jointly implemented by Europe and Japan, and under the Japanese national program. In this paper, the specifications of the tokamak and the heating and current drive systems. Operational domains and physics research objectives are summarized.
