The New era of super conducting tokamak research led by Asia for nuclear fusion

Kamada, Yutaka; Li, J.*; Kwon, M.*

Nuclear fusion research has entered its new era of superconducting tokamak research led by Asia towards ITER and demonstration power plants. The research goal is to sustain a high integrated plasma performance satisfying a high burning efficiency, a high fusion power density, full non inductive plasma current drive, and reduced divertor heat flux in the steady state. Towards this goal, the EAST device in China and the KSTAR device in Korea are extending experimental areas, and the JT-60SA device is under construction in Japan.
