本研究では、J-PARC/MLFに設置された工学回折装置「匠」を用いて、飛行時間中性子回折法によるひずみ測定における、表面効果や減衰効果の影響を検討した。その結果、試料表面近傍のひずみ測定においては、測定体積が試料に完浴状態にない場合に発生する典型的な見かけのひずみ変化が見られた。また、測定体積が試料に完浴状態にあっても、中性子線の減衰による回折重心位置の変化に伴う見かけのひずみ変化が見られ、このひずみ変化は測定体積の増加に伴い大きくなることがわかった。これらの見かけのひずみ変化は、従来のモデルにビーム発散の影響を考慮することにより、正確にシミュレーションすることができた。したがって、TOF工学回折計を用いたひずみ測定シミュレーションにおいては、ビーム発散が重要なパラメータとなり得ることを明らかにした。

Effects of pseudo-strains, due to influences of the surface effect and neutron attenuation, on the strain measurement by Time-of-Flight neutron diffraction were discussed using the TAKUMI engineering diffractometer at MLF of J-PARC. Typical pseudo-strains due to the surface-effect were appeared in near-surface strain measurements when a gauge volume is incompletely filled in a sample. Furthermore, a pseudo-strain due to change in the ncog (neutron-weighted center of gravity) position was observed even when perfectly immersing the gauge volume in a sample, and it was increased with an increase of the gauge volume. These pseudo-strains measured were well simulated by taking into account an incident neutron beam divergence additionally in the conventional model. Therefore, it was clarified that the incident neutron beam divergence must be an important parameter to make a modeling of pseudo-strains induced in the strain measurement using the TOF engineering diffractometer.
