Coulomb logarithm formulae for collisions between species with different temperatures

Honda, Mitsuru

This brief note proposes the Coulomb logarithm formulae that can be applied to collisions between any particles in a plasma consisting of various species with different temperatures. The classical and quantum-mechanical formulae of the Coulomb logarithm are both derived and are seamlessly connected. These are easy to use and have flexible applicability. The formulae proposed can recover the previously-known ones that are valid for specific cases.
