Local magnetic field and positive muon diffusion in yttrium iron garnet

Ito, Takashi   ; Higemoto, Wataru  ; Luetkens, H.*

$$mu$$$$^{+}$$SR experiments on yttrium iron garnet (YIG) single crystals under applied temperature gradient were planned to investigate thermally perturbed magnetization dynamics in YIG, which carries a spin current. A feasibility $$mu$$$$^{+}$$SR study was performed in the D1 area, J-PARC MUSE using YIG single crystals without applied temperature gradient. Conventional pulsed $$mu$$$$^{+}$$SR measurements were carried out under a longitudinal magnetic field of 0.1 T to align the direction of magnetic domains in YIG. The longitudinal relaxation rate was obtained as a function of temperature below 300 K. No significant temperature variation was found below 150 K, ensuring that the implanted muons are stationary at low temperatures. In the presentation, we described the temperature-gradient experiment in preparation as well as details of the feasibility $$mu$$$$^{+}$$SR study.
