Prospects of R&D in Takasaki advanced radiation research institute

Tamada, Masao

Takasaki advanced radiation research institute has three irradiation facilities of $$gamma$$-ray, electron beam, and ion beams to support the applied research on quantum beam technology. Unique beam technologies for micro beam and single ion hit have been developed by combining techniques of flat-top acceleration and high stabilization of magnetic field for the cyclotron in ion beam irradiation facility to irradiate certain points in cells and semiconductor by ion beam, some micron meter in diameter. The advantage of quantum beam technology is to develop new-high-performance materials which cannot be produced by chemical methods. We will explore unique irradiation technology and novel seeds using the quantum beam technology and apply them for public benefit in the community.
