${it In situ}$ observation of recrystallization process for aluminum single crystals using synchrotron radiation

Shiro, Ayumi; Shobu, Takahisa  ; Okada, Tatsuya*

The changes in the microstructures associated with plastic deformation and recrystallization were measured using hard synchrotron radiation for aluminum single crystals tensile-deformed along the $$<$$111$$>$$ direction. In this study, we evaluated the crystallographic orientation and internal stress/strain distribution using the strain scanning method. It was found that the distribution of internal stress/strain was uniform and very small. We also carried out an in-situ observation for the annealing process of the deformed sample using a specially designed in-line annealing apparatus and a 2-dimensional detector. The ${it in situ}$ observation clearly showed an abrupt change in the crystallographic orientation associated with recrystallization. It was also found that the crystal quality of the recrystallized grain improved with the annealing time.
