Plasma size and power scaling of ion temperature gradient driven turbulence

Idomura, Yasuhiro   ; Nakata, Motoki

Plasma size and power scalings of heat transport in ion temperature gradient driven turbulence are studied using the gyrokinetic full-f Eulerian code GT5D. Through systematic scans of heating power, the power degradation of confinement in L-mode plasmas is successfully recovered based on a first principle model for the first time. It is found that when heating power is scaled with plasma sizes, the power degradation of confinement leads to a Bohm scaling for large deveices, where conventional gyrokinetic delta-f codes asymptotically give a gyro-Bohm scaling.
