$$gamma$$-ray response of clear PMMA dosimeter, Radix W, at low temperature

Novel clear PMMA dosimeter "Radix W" has wider dynamic measurable dose range from 1 to 150 kGy employing different readout wavelengths of 280 nm and 320 nm corresponding to the interested dose range. In this paper, influence of low irradiation temperature on the dosimeter response was examined in the range of -79 to 0$$^{circ}$$C which could be used industrially. As a result, absorbance of Radix W decreased with decreasing irradiation temperature. The temperature coefficient was -0.22% per $$^{circ}$$C below 0 $$^{circ}$$C. A dose value within reasonable variation can be obtained by the correction of dosimeter response using above temperature coefficient for irradiation temperature below 0 $$^{circ}$$C. These results show that Radix W demonstrates its usefulness as an easy-handling dosimeter for low temperature products.
