Double deformed-shell closure at Z=100 and N=152; The First observation of excited states in $^{252}$ Fm

Energies of the first excited 2 $^{+}$ states have been precisely measured for the first time for nine even-even actinide nuclei by means of - coincidence measurement and high-resolution fine-structure measurement. It was found that the first excited 2 $^{+}$ state energies in even-even actinide nuclei take the local minimum at $^{252}$ Fm, which indicates the existence of the double deformed-shell closure at Z=100 and N=152.
