Polarized neutron scattering activities in Japan

In the years of 2008 to 2013 the Neutron Beam Fundamentals Development Project was promoted in the framework of the Quantum Beam Technology Program by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). Special emphasis was put on the development of SEOP He polarizing filter essential for the polarized neutron utilization for instruments at the spallation neutron source beam facility J-PARC Materials and Life Science Facility (J-PARC/MLF), but also valuable implement for JRR-3 research reactor facility, for realizing e.g. high-energy triple axis experiments in combination with Cu monochromator. The recent polarized neutron activities at the JRR-3 research reactor and J-PARC spallation neutron beam facilities will be reviewed.
