To solve basic technical issues related to the accelerator-driven system (ADS) that proposed by JAEA, the ADS Target Test Facility (TEF-T) will be constructed within the framework of J-PARC. In the TEF-T, a Lead-Bismuth Eutectic (LBE) spallation target will be installed and bombarded by pulsed proton beams (400 MeV, 25 Hz, 0.5 ms in pulse duration). During its operation, the target vessel would suffer the static stress due to design pressure, thermal stress due to temperature rising and dynamic stress due to pressure waves generated in the LBE. Moreover, the cavitation/erosion damage, which could be caused by the pressure waves and the LBE flowing, might be imposed on the target vessel and be a crucial factor to reduce the target lifetime. In the present study, firstly, the structural analyses for the target vessel were carried out through the numerical simulations. And secondly, the nondestructive diagnostic techniques was investigated through the experiments and numerical simulations based on the cavitation/erosion damage mechanism.
