Cs sorption-desorption behavior on clay minerals by synchrotron radiation based X-ray analysis and theoretical calculation method

Yaita, Tsuyoshi

This study aiming at the development and optimization of volume reduction method for huge amount of radioactive soil wastes, the cesium sorption and desorption mechanism on clay mineral was studied. In Fukushima prefecture, the weathered biotite is quite important material based on the Imaging plate and electronic microscope analyses. In the soil in Fukushima, only 15 particles included radioactive cesium in 20,000 particles in total; therefore, it could be possible for about the 1/1000 volume reduction efficiency in potential. In this presentation, the modified the wet-classification, chemical treatment and high temperature alkaline treatment updated based on the adsorption mechanism will be mentioned.
