Thermal properties and defect chemistry in nonstoichiometric (U,Pu)O$$_{2}$$

Kato, Masato

Urania-plutonia solid solution is chemically stable compound in both region of hyper- and hypo-stoichiometry, which has been developed as fuels of sodium-cooled fast reactors. In this work, oxygen potential data of (U,Pu)O$$_{2}$$ were evaluated based on defect chemistry. And relationship with other thermal properties was described with using the point defect evaluation result. Brouwer diagram of UO$$_{2}$$, PuO$$_{2}$$ and (U,Pu)O$$_{2}$$ were illustrated from the oxygen potential data. Relational equations to describe O/M ratio and defect concentrations were derived from Brouwer diagram. Relationship between oxygen potential and other thermal properties was evaluated.
