The local structure and chemical state of fission product elements in the iron phosphate glass containing simulated high-level liquid waste were investigated by using synchrotron radiation based XAFS technique. According to the XAFS analyses, changes of the local structure around zirconium, molybdenum and ruthenium elements in the simulated glass evaluated by varying chemical composition of frit glass and content of the simulated liquid waste. It is assumed from the EXAFS result that ruthenium element was partially dissolved in the glass phase.
