Current status and future of development of reactor physics calculation codes in JAEA

Suyama, Kenya

Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) has been developing the reactor physics calculation codes. In recent years, the demand on the codes based on the deterministic method decreased. On the contrary, the continuous Energy Monte Carlo codes has been widely used. It is clear that the request to JAEA for the computer code development had changed drastically. From the view point of dissemination of the computer codes, the difficult situation restricting the export of the computer codes to foreign countries from Japan continues based on the regulation and guidelines. This means that JAEA has to reply to these questions concerning the code development; what kind of computer codes should be developed, how we develop them, and how we disseminate them. This talk summarizes the current status of the computer code development and related information on such as the nuclear data in JAEA. This would facilitate the discussion on the future direction of the computer code development, which supports the basic researches on the nuclear energy.
