Evaluation of the applicability of laser measurement techniques for the instrumentation of fast reactors using Sodium Engineering Research Facility

Ueda, Masashi ; Saruta, Koichi   ; Yamaguchi, Toshihiko

A new facility named Sodium Engineering Research Facility (SERF) was built to conduct a variety of research and development activities in a sodium environment beside the prototype fast breeder reactor Monju. In this facility experimental equipment (a large-scale sodium circulation loop system, glove boxes, and multipurpose test cells) is installed in a three-story building, occupying a 700-square-meter area. In SERF, the following R&Ds on laser measurement techniques for the fast reactors will be carried out from the viewpoint of diversity in nuclear plant instrument. SERF is poised to play an important role in the research community of fast reactor technologies and make great contributions to the local community through its research and development activities.
