Study on nuclear forensics signatures of nuclear source materials and irradiated nuclear fuels for material discrimination

Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) has been initiated the R&Ds on nuclear forensics technical capability buildings including developments of measurement methodologies and prototype nuclear forensics library (NFL) since 2011 JFY. The important objective of nuclear forensic analysis is to characterize, categorize, and discriminate nuclear or radioactive materials to identify its origin and history. In this paper, nuclear forensics signatures to identify nuclear materials have been discussed for nuclear source material and irradiated nuclear fuels.
