Measurement of the $$^{133}$$Cs(n,$$gamma$$) cross-section using a New DAQ System at ANNRI

Hales, B. P.; Nakamura, Shoji  ; Kimura, Atsushi   ; Iwamoto, Osamu

Recently a new data acquisition system (DAQ system) has been installed for the high-purity germanium (HPGe) detector array at the Accurate Neutron-Nucleus Reaction Measurement Instrument (BL04-ANNRI) at J-PARC MLF, notably featuring much lower dead-time in comparison to the previous DAQ system. Using this new DAQ system, a measurement of the cross-section of $$^{133}$$Cs(n,$$gamma$$) has been conducted at J-PARC MLF. $$^{133}$$Cs is of notable importance because it is 100% of natural Cs, and $$^{135}$$Cs is a long-lived fission product. Nuclear data on $$^{135}$$Cs will be vital for the development of a system for transmuting nuclear waste products into stable or shorter-lived nuclides, reducing the environmental impact of nuclear power. High quality data for $$^{133}$$Cs is vital for analysis of experimental data of $$^{135}$$Cs.
