Particle and Heavy Ion Transport code System (PHITS) is a general purpose Monte Carlo radiation transport simulation code in three-dimensional geometry. For electrons and positrons, the EGS5 model embedded in PHITS is used for transport calculation above 1 keV while the track structure calculation mode is used for that below 1 keV. Transport of other charged particles is simulated by continuous slowing down process and stochastic reaction process. The former process is computed using the ATIMA algorithm and the latter process is computed by adopting suitable reaction models and data libraries depending on the particle and the energy range. Improvement of proton induced simulations by incorporating the JENDL-4.0 High Energy File and extension of the track structure mode to heavy ions are our future perspectives.
