Particle and Heavy Ion Transport code System (PHITS) is a general purpose Monte Carlo radiation transport simulation code in three-dimensional geometry. PHITS simulations can be executed in multiple platforms: Windows, Mac, and Linux. Parallel computation is also available with MPI and OpenMP. PHITS is able to transport almost any kind of particles, such as neutrons, protons, heavy ions, photons, and electrons, over a wide energy range up to 1 TeV by using various reaction models and data libraries. Originally the so-called general geometry (GG) configuration was adopted in PHITS; recently complex objects represented by tetrahedral-mesh becomes available. The PHITS development team is actively working for upgrades. The update patches are released at least once per year. The update information is announced through the PHITS mailing list.
