Current status of research on source term and debris coolability at JAEA

Current status of research at JAEA is presented for the development and application of methodologies to evaluate source term and ex-vessel debris coolability under wet cavity conditions in a severe accident of a light water reactor. The methodologies include simulation codes such as THALES2 for source term, KICHE for iodine chemical reaction kinetics in a containment vessel, CHEMKEq for fission product chemistry in a reactor cooling system and JASMINE for molten core/coolant interaction.
