New synthesis method of simulated fuel containing high volatile Cs compounds

To systematically investigate the release behaviors of Cs and I, we have developed a new synthesis technique of simulated fuel containing high volatile compound of CsI. The simulated fuel having a high similarity of microstructure with the real irradiated UO$$_{2}$$ fuel from the viewpoint of the grain size and the very fine CsI particles can be achieved by the technique: the sintering of compacted CsI and Y$$_{2}$$O$$_{3}$$-stabilized ZrO$$_{2}$$ mixed powders with air-tight state.
