The paper introduces the research activities at JAEA on the application of Bayesian statistics to nuclear reactor severe accident source term. Bayesian nonparametric models are widely used for constructing statistical surrogate model for mechanistic codes. The surrogate model helps the numerical severe accident research by predicting simulation results and reducing computational complexity.
