瑞浪超深地層研究所における地表からの調査予測研究(第1段階)と研究坑道の掘削を伴う調査研究(第2段階)の研究成果を概括する。第1段階の調査研究では、地下施設の設計・建設に必要な地質・地質構造、岩盤の力学特性、地下水流入量や物質移動特性に関わる地下水の地球化学特性の調査解析技術が構築された。また、第2段階の調査研究では、地表からの調査技術の妥当性確認を行うとともに、詳細な地質調査や坑道掘削に伴う岩盤損傷領域, 地質環境擾乱領域の諸特性の長期観測などに関わる技術が構築された。

The results of Surface-based investigation phase and Construction phases in MIU project were summarized. The investigation techniques of geology, geological structure, rock strength, groundwater inflow and chemistry for facility design and construction were prepared in Surface-based investigation phase. In the Construction phase, the techniques used in Surface-based investigation phase were evaluated based on the data gained in the underground gallery.
