Concept of the occurrence probability of impact load and its introduction in the ISO Standards

Nishida, Akemi  ; Mukai, Yoichi*; Hamamoto, Takuji*

In the impact load guidelines published in Japan, all descriptions of impact loads and their effects remain in deterministic expression. However, even in the Eurocode, which quickly adopted impact loads as design loads in structural design, and the ISO Standard that is currently scheduled to be published, impact load and impact resistance design are discussed on the assumption of reliability design based on probability theory. Therefore, the introduction of probabilistic viewpoints in the future of the domestic guidelines is unavoidable. In this presentation, the concept of the occurrence probability of impact load due to collision and explosion and its introduction in the ISO Standard will be introduced.
