The HTTR has not been in operation since the great east Japan earthquake occurred on March 2011. Before the earthquake, the HTTR was operated by about half of its life of the first core. In order to prepare for restarting the HTTR, the information of nuclear characteristics such as control rod position is important. This study calculates the control rods position along with the burnup of the HTTR using the Monte-Carlo MVP code. Normally, the Monte-Carlo code cannot change the core geometry such as control rod position during criticality and burnup calculation. Therefore, this study develops an utility tool that allows the control rod to be changed during burnup calculation.
