Long-term maintenance scheduling for fast reactor plants

To realize the rational preventive maintenance of nuclear power plants, it is essential to manage the inspection processes for the long term from the viewpoints of both safety and economy. However, it is difficult to manually create a long-term maintenance schedule because of the many components and processes involved. Herein, we propose a long-term maintenance scheduling model for a sodium-cooled fast reactor plant. The long-term maintenance scheduling problem is divided into two segments: (a) determining the monthly inspection targets in a 10-year scheduling period and (b) determining the daily inspection process in a 1-month scheduling period. For these integer programming problems, we first solve the inspection component scheduling problem in order to minimize the total number of inspections while ensuring safety; then, we solve the inspection process scheduling problem that considers the precedence and resource constraints among the processes.
