日本地球惑星科学連合2021年大会の「Nuclear Geoscience in Developing Countries」のセッションにおいて招待講演として報告するものである。本報告では、日本における放射性廃棄物処分の現状を、特に地球科学的観点から紹介する。高レベル放射性廃棄物については、科学的特性マップの公開を含め、地質学的な変動帯に位置する日本における地層処分の実施にあたっての地球科学的検討の現状を紹介する。

This paper will be presented as an invited talk in the session "Nuclear Geoscience in Developing Countries" at the Japan Geoscience Union Meeting 2021. In this paper, the current status of radioactive waste disposal in Japan, especially from the geoscientific point of view, is introduced. In particular, I introduce the current status of geoscientific studies, including the release of the Nationwide Map of "Scientific Features" relevant for Geological Disposal, for the implementation of geological disposal of high-level radioactive waste in Japan, located in a geologically active zone.
