Performance evaluation of nickel anode for electrolytic reduction of actinide oxides in LiCl-Li$$_{2}$$O melts

Sakamura, Yoshiharu*; Murakami, Tsuyoshi*; Iizuka, Masatoshi*; Kofuji, Hirohide

In the electrolytic reduction process of actinide oxides in LiCl-Li$$_{2}$$O melts, produced oxigen gas causes corrosion on the surface of conventional plutinum anode by the generation of Li$$_{2}$$PtO$$_{3}$$. In this study, Ni metal whose surface was coated with NiO was examined as the anode material. The electrode was showed good performance by the 100-g order UO$$_{2}$$ reduction test.
