$$^{212}$$Po/$$^{210}$$Po ratio of the alpha reduced determined by alpha knockout reaction

Yoshida, Kazuki   ; Tanaka, Junki*

We analyzed various types of cross sections of the $$^{210,212}$$Po($$p$$,$$palpha$$)$$^{206,208}$$Pb reaction, such as the triple differential cross section, longitudinal momentum distribution, and the total knockout cross section. It is confirmed that by the proton-induced $$alpha$$ knockout reaction, it is possible to extract the $$alpha$$ reduced width of the $$alpha$$ decay nuclei. This is because of the surface sensitivity of the reaction, not the $$alpha$$ amplitude in the whole region but only the surface $$alpha$$ amplitude contributes to the knockout cross sections. This feature allows us to probe the $$alpha$$ reduced width, namely, the $$alpha$$ formation probability on the surface of the $$alpha$$ decay nuclei.
