福島第一原子力発電所事故の収束に向けた取り組みにおいて、2021年12月にステップ2の完了が宣言された。原子炉の冷温停止状態を支える循環注水冷却に関しては、仮設の水処理設備が安定稼動しているが、恒久的な水処理設備の設置、汚染水処理で発生した二次廃棄物の保管・処理・処分への取り組みも求められている。本稿では、汚染水処理の現状を整理し、吸着材の性能、今後の処理・処分に関わる技術的課題を解説する。

The completion of step 2, in regard to efforts to resolve the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident, was declared in December 2011. Temporarily installed water treatment system is being operated for circulating water cooling, which is supporting the cold shutdown state of the nuclear reactors. However, the installation of permanent water treatment system, and efforts to deal with the storage, processing, and disposal of secondary wastes generated by the contaminated water treatment are also required. In this paper, we outline the current status of contaminated water treatment, and explain the adsorbent performance as well as technical issues regarding future processing and disposal.
